Why Rent a Private Boat in Phuket?
Phuket is Thailand's largest island and the gateway to the Andaman Sea — home to over 30 stunning islands within day-trip distance. A private boat rental gives you complete freedom: no fixed schedules, no crowds, just you, your group, and crystal-clear waters.
Unlike group tours that follow rigid timetables and pack 30+ strangers onto one boat, a private rental lets you:
- Set your own schedule — depart when you want, stay as long as you like at each stop
- Choose your destinations — visit Phi Phi, James Bond Island, Coral Island, or hidden beaches most tourists never see
- Enjoy complete privacy — perfect for families, couples, celebrations, or corporate events
- Bring your own food & drinks — or order catering. No overpriced tour packages

Boat Rental Tips for Phuket
Best Time to Rent a Boat
Phuket's boating season runs year-round, but conditions vary:
- November–April (High Season) — Calm Andaman Sea, all islands accessible including Similan. Best conditions but higher prices and more demand.
- May–October (Low Season) — Lower prices (5–15% off), good conditions on east coast (Coral Island, Khai Islands, Phang Nga Bay). West coast and Phi Phi can be rougher but are often still accessible. Similan Islands closed.
Where Do Boats Depart From?
Most private boats depart from:
- Chalong Pier — Phuket's main marina, closest to southern beaches. Most boats depart here.
- Royal Phuket Marina — Premium marina in east Phuket, home to larger yachts and catamarans.
- Ao Po Grand Marina — Northeast Phuket, best for Phang Nga Bay and James Bond Island trips.
Do I Need a Boat License?
No. All our boats come with a professional, licensed Thai captain. You never need to operate the boat yourself. Just tell the captain where you want to go, sit back, and enjoy.
How Far in Advance Should I Book?
We recommend booking 3–7 days in advance during high season (December–February), especially for popular boats. In low season, 1–3 days is usually sufficient. Same-day bookings are sometimes possible but selection is limited.
Boat Rental vs Group Tour: Comparison
| Private Boat Rental | Group Tour | |
|---|---|---|
| Guests | Your group only (2–50) | 30–50 strangers |
| Schedule | You decide departure & stops | Fixed timetable, no flexibility |
| Price (8 people) | ~4,000 THB/person | ~2,500 THB/person |
| Destinations | Any island, hidden spots | 2–3 fixed stops |
| Food & Drinks | Your choice, BYOB welcome | Basic buffet lunch included |
| Experience | Premium, private, relaxed | Crowded, rushed, tourist-heavy |
For groups of 6 or more, a private boat rental often costs the same or less per person than premium group tours — with incomparably better experience.
